What to do in Lima

It turns out that downtown Lima is not the hot tourist destination you’d think it is (okay – that I thought it would be). Unlike most cities, tourists tend to avoid staying downtown and most flock to the Miraflores neighbourhood. Of course we didn’t learn this until later and so we spent our first two nights at a hotel downtown.

Before heading to Lima I posed the question to my facebook travel friends – “Going to Lima for a couple days – what should I do?” The response – get out of Lima. While Lima may not be as touristy as say Cuzco, there is still enough to keep you busy for a couple days. In no particular order here are my suggestions for Lima:
